Crafting Stations and Progression Guide
Date Published

Crafting is the backbone of progression in Windrose. Every weapon you wield, every piece of armor you wear, and every meal you eat is produced through the game's interconnected crafting system. This guide walks you through every crafting station, what it produces, and the optimal order to build them.
Crafting Station Overview
Windrose features 21 buildable structures, including crafting stations, utility structures, and decorative pieces. Here is a breakdown of the key stations and what they unlock.
Tier 1 -- Essential Stations
Bonfire -- Your first build. Acts as a respawn point and provides light. Every base needs one.
Workbench -- The foundation of all crafting. Required to build most other stations and basic items. Build this immediately after your Bonfire.
Cooking Fire -- Processes raw ingredients into cooked food. Even basic recipes provide health regeneration and minor buffs. Essential for survival.
Charcoal Kiln -- Converts Timber into Charcoal, a key fuel and crafting ingredient needed for smelting and advanced recipes.
Tier 2 -- Material Processing
Smelting Furnace -- Processes raw ores into ingots. You will need this to craft metal weapons, armor, and advanced building parts. The Large Smelting Furnace is a direct upgrade that processes materials faster.
Tanning Rig -- Converts animal hides into leather using Tannin (extracted from Tree Bark). Leather is a core material for medium armor and various crafted items.
Spinning Wheel -- Processes Flax Fiber into cloth and thread. Required for light armor, sails, and numerous recipes.
Millstone -- Grinds raw materials into powders and refined ingredients. Used in alchemy and advanced cooking recipes.
Tier 3 -- Equipment Crafting
Weaponsmith -- Forges weapons from processed materials. This is where you craft Uncommon through Rare tier weapons. Each weapon type has specific material requirements.
Armor and Clothing Workshop -- Produces armor pieces from leather, cloth, and metal. This station is essential for completing armor sets and accessing set bonuses.
Jewellery Table -- Crafts accessories from Pearls, gems, and refined materials. Accessories provide additional stat bonuses and unique effects.
Tier 4 -- Advanced and Specialized
Alchemy Table -- Brews potions and elixirs from gathered herbs and reagents like Aloe Leaf, Healing Herbs, and Bezoar. Produces powerful consumables with effects beyond what cooking can offer.
Enchanting Table -- Adds magical properties to weapons and armor. This is the endgame crafting station for maximizing gear potential.
Upgrading Station -- Upgrades existing equipment to higher quality tiers. Rather than crafting entirely new gear, you can feed materials into existing weapons and armor to improve their stats and unlock new passive effects.
Disassembly Bench -- Breaks down unwanted equipment into component materials. Never vendor trash your old gear when you can recover useful materials instead.
Shipbuilding
Shipwright's Workshop -- Builds and upgrades ships. From the humble Rowboat to the mighty Frigate, all naval vessels are constructed here. Ship upgrades require specialized materials including Wooden Planks, processed metals, and sail cloth.
Wharf -- A docking structure that lets you launch and manage your ships. Required before you can set sail.
Utility Structures
Fast Travel Point -- Allows instant travel between any two Fast Travel Points you have built. Place one at every major base and resource-rich area.
Tent -- A secondary respawn point, useful for setting up temporary camps near dungeons or resource nodes.
Floor-Standing Torch -- Provides light in a wider area than the Bonfire. Useful for illuminating large bases.
Optimal Build Order
Follow this progression for the most efficient base development:
Phase 1: Bonfire, Workbench, Cooking Fire, Charcoal Kiln
Phase 2: Smelting Furnace, Tanning Rig, Fast Travel Point
Phase 3: Weaponsmith, Armor and Clothing Workshop, Spinning Wheel
Phase 4: Upgrading Station, Alchemy Table, Disassembly Bench
Phase 5: Shipwright's Workshop, Wharf, Enchanting Table, Jewellery Table
Key Crafting Resources
Different resources become available as you explore higher-tier areas:
Starting Island (Tier 1): Timber, Tree Bark, Healing Herbs, Flax Fiber, Tannin, basic animal drops from Dodos and Boars
Second Island / Foothills (Tier 2): Foothills Iron Ore, Mountain Goat Horn, Bromeliad, higher-quality animal hides
Cursed Swamps / Tier 3 zones: Plague Wood, Quagmire Powder, Ancient Scraps, Crocodile Tail, Bezoar, Bone Meal
Always carry a diverse set of gathering tools when exploring new areas, and consider building a Tent near rich resource deposits to minimize travel time.
