Tannin

Tannin is a chemical reagent brewed at the Alchemy Table, essential for the leather tanning process. It transforms raw Rough Hide into workable Tanned Leather and represents one of the first alchemy recipes most players will use. Without Tannin, the entire leather armor crafting chain stalls.

Brew Tannin at the Alchemy Table using 1 Clay Bottle and 2 Tree Bark. Clay Bottles are crafted from Clay, while Tree Bark is harvested directly from trees. Both ingredients are relatively easy to gather, but you need a functioning Alchemy Table first, which in turn requires a Clay Pot. Plan your station progression accordingly.

Tannin is used exclusively in the Tanned Leather recipe at the Tanning Rig (2 Rough Hide + 1 Tannin). Since Tanned Leather feeds into dozens of armor and equipment recipes, Tannin demand stays high throughout mid-game. Brew it in batches and keep a reserve of 10 or more units so that leather production never has to wait on alchemy.
