Tanned Leather
Processed at Tanning Rig from hides
Tanned Leather is a processed hide material produced at the Tanning Rig by combining Rough Hide with Tannin. It is the refined version of Rough Hide and serves as a core material in mid-tier armor and weapon crafting. The tanning process transforms a basic animal product into a durable, workable material.
Produce Tanned Leather at the Tanning Rig using 2 Rough Hide and 1 Tannin per craft. Rough Hide comes from hunting Boars and Sows, while Tannin is brewed at the Alchemy Table from 1 Clay Bottle and 2 Tree Bark. Both supply chains need to be operational before you can produce Tanned Leather reliably, so plan your station building accordingly.
Tanned Leather is used extensively in crafting armor pieces, weapon grips, and various equipment upgrades. It offers a meaningful improvement over raw hide in both protection and durability. Since the production chain involves three different gathering activities (hunting, clay collection, and bark harvesting) plus two crafting stations, setting up an efficient workflow is key to keeping supply steady.
