Charcoal Kiln

The Charcoal Kiln converts raw wood into Charcoal and Ash, two essential intermediate materials used in smelting, crafting, and various advanced recipes. This station must be placed outdoors due to the smoke and heat it produces, so plan your base layout with exterior space reserved for it.

Charcoal is a key fuel for the Smelting Furnace and Large Smelting Furnace, making the Kiln a critical link in the metal production chain. Ash is used at the Millstone for processing Gunpowder and other refined materials. Keep a steady supply of wood flowing into the Kiln to avoid bottlenecks in your crafting pipeline.

Build the Charcoal Kiln shortly after establishing your Workbench and before constructing your first Smelting Furnace. Position it near your wood storage and furnace for efficient material transfer. Since it is an outdoor-only structure, consider placing it along the perimeter of your base where it will not interfere with roofed workshop areas.
