Ash

Ash is a processed byproduct obtained primarily from the Charcoal Kiln during Charcoal production. It can also be produced intentionally by grinding 2 Charcoal into 6 Ash at the Millstone. While easy to overlook, Ash is a critical ingredient in Gunpowder crafting.

The simplest way to accumulate Ash is passively, by collecting it as a byproduct whenever you burn Hardwood in the Charcoal Kiln. Each Hardwood burned yields 1 Ash alongside 2 Charcoal. If you need Ash in larger quantities, convert Charcoal directly at the Millstone (2 Charcoal produces 6 Ash).

The primary use for Ash is in crafting Gunpowder at the Millstone, where 25 Ash and 25 Sulfur produce 5 Gunpowder. Since Gunpowder is essential for ranged weapons and ammunition, maintaining a reserve of Ash ensures you are always ready to produce more. Avoid discarding Ash from your Charcoal Kiln, as it adds up quickly over time.
