Iron Ingot

Iron Ingot is a mid-game refined metal produced at the Smelting Furnace from Foothills Iron Ore. It is stronger and more versatile than Copper, serving as the backbone of mid-tier weapons, tools, and station upgrades. Reaching iron-level production marks a significant jump in a player's crafting capabilities.

Smelt Iron Ingots at the Smelting Furnace using 3 Foothills Iron Ore and 1 Charcoal per ingot. The ore-to-ingot ratio is more favorable than Copper, but Foothills Iron Ore must be mined in the Foothills biome on mid-tier islands. Ensure you have a stable Charcoal supply before committing to large smelting batches.

Iron Ingots are used to craft iron-tier weapons and tools, produce Nails more efficiently (1 Iron Ingot yields 10 Nails versus 5 from Copper), and create Ironware at the Workbench (5 Iron Ingots per craft). Ironware in turn feeds into numerous station upgrades, making Iron Ingots one of the most consumed resources in the mid-game.
