Islander Tutorial

The Islander Tutorial is the first quest chain every new player encounters when they wash ashore in Windrose. This extended tutorial walks you through the fundamental survival mechanics of the game, from crafting your first Stone Axe and Stone Pickaxe to building a Bonfire, Workbench, and eventually a full base with advanced crafting stations. Each objective introduces a core system that you will rely on throughout your entire adventure across the archipelago.

The tutorial progresses through several phases of increasing complexity. After gathering basic resources like Wood, Stone, and Plant Fiber, you will learn to build shelter, craft armor for protection, and mine your first Copper Ore from the caves on the Starting Island. The chain culminates in building a Charcoal Kiln and Smelting Furnace, which unlock the metal-tier crafting that defines mid-game progression. Completing these objectives is essential because it teaches you the crafting dependency chains that form the backbone of all advanced gear.

Once you finish the Islander Tutorial and smelt your first Copper Ingot, Doctor Galen will appear at your nearest Bonfire, triggering the main story questline and granting access to your first real ship, the Ketch. This makes the tutorial a critical gateway not just to crafting knowledge but to the entire naval exploration system. New players should prioritize completing it quickly, as the Ketch opens up travel to the Second Island and beyond, where richer resources and tougher challenges await.
