Marathon Runner

Marathon Runner is a Tier 0 Toughguy talent that increases your maximum Stamina by 20, 35, or 50 points. Stamina governs your ability to sprint, dodge, and perform other movement-related actions in Windrose, and having a larger pool means more room to maneuver in combat. Whether you need to close the gap with a distant enemy, dodge away from a dangerous attack, or reposition to a better vantage point, Marathon Runner gives you the endurance to do so without running dry at a critical moment.

This talent is surprisingly versatile and benefits nearly every playstyle. Toughguy tanks use the extra Stamina to maintain blocks through Flawless Defence, since blocking consumes Stamina based on Posture cost. Marksman hybrids who take Extended Reach appreciate the ability to sprint to advantageous positions and still have Stamina left for emergency dodges. Even Muzzle Reach builds that fight at close range need Stamina to weave between enemies. Marathon Runner also pairs well with Outnumbered, as staying near multiple enemies is safer when you have the Stamina to dodge their attacks.

For build advice, Marathon Runner is one of the most universally useful talents in the Toughguy tree. At Tier 0, it costs very little to pick up, and the 50 Stamina at rank 3 is a substantial quality-of-life improvement for any build. Dedicated tanks should max it alongside Just a Flesh Wound before moving into Tier 1. Ranged players who dip into Toughguy often pick up Marathon Runner as their first or second selection, since the Stamina boost helps with positioning without requiring further investment in defensive talents. Pair with Tracker's Leathers for a mobile, evasion-oriented build, or with Conquistador's Armor for a heavier approach that still has the endurance to stay active in prolonged fights.
