Vulnerability

Debuff

Vulnerability is a debuff applied by the Epic rarity Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol, increasing all damage taken by the affected target by 15%. This straightforward but potent effect transforms the pistol into a force multiplier for any damage source, whether from the pistol wielder themselves or from allies attacking the same target. In group play, applying Vulnerability before a coordinated burst is one of the most efficient ways to maximize total damage output in Windrose.

The Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol's dual-shot mechanic gives it two chances to apply Vulnerability per trigger pull, making the debuff reasonably reliable to land. Once applied, all subsequent damage benefits from the +15% amplification, including damage-over-time effects like Bleeding and Fire Damage that are already ticking on the target. This creates powerful synergies with status-heavy builds; for example, applying Vulnerability to a target already suffering from 5 stacks of Bleeding effectively turns 200 damage per second into 230 damage per second without any additional effort. Players should open engagements with the pistol to establish Vulnerability before switching to their primary damage weapon.

Defending against Vulnerability requires awareness of when the debuff is active and adjusting your risk tolerance accordingly. If you see the Vulnerability indicator on your status bar, avoid committing to trades or standing in damage zones, as everything hurts 15% more than expected. Cleansing effects that remove debuffs can strip Vulnerability, and high damage resistance from Ward or heavy armor partially offsets the amplification. Since only the Epic variant of the Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol applies this effect, encountering it signals that your opponent is running high-tier gear and should be approached with caution and respect.
