Look for abandoned farms in the Foothills biome on mid-tier islands. These locations are identifiable by remnants of tilled fields, broken fences, and overgrown garden plots. Interact with the soil patches to collect Fertile Soil. Each abandoned farm typically yields a generous amount, so a single trip can supply a sizable garden.

Fertile Soil is used to create planting beds and garden plots at your base, allowing you to grow crops for cooking recipes and other uses. Farming provides a sustainable alternative to hunting for food ingredients, and certain crops can only be obtained through cultivation. Set up your garden early in the mid-game to benefit from continuous harvests as you progress.
