The Drowned Sailor is an Undead-type enemy ranging from Level 2 to Level 4, found lurking in the dark corridors and flooded halls of Underground Chambers throughout Windrose. These restless spirits of sailors who perished at sea have risen from their watery graves, still clutching the rusted weapons they carried in life. With their eerie, waterlogged appearance and unsettling groans echoing through dungeon passageways, Drowned Sailors represent the first significant supernatural threat most players will face. They are considerably tougher than the Animals found on beaches and in open fields, requiring real combat awareness and decent gear to defeat reliably.
What makes Drowned Sailors especially rewarding to fight is their weapon drop table. Unlike Animals that primarily yield raw materials and crafting components, Drowned Sailors can drop actual weapons, giving players a chance to upgrade their arsenal without spending resources at a crafting station. These dropped weapons vary in quality and type, ranging from rusty cutlasses to waterlogged axes, and while they may not match the power of fully crafted gear, they serve as excellent interim equipment during the early-to-mid game transition. The Underground Chambers where these enemies dwell also contain treasure chests and hidden alcoves with additional loot, making a full dungeon clear a highly profitable venture for well-prepared adventurers.
Approaching a fight with Drowned Sailors requires more caution than battling wildlife. They attack with slow but powerful weapon swings that deal heavy damage, and some variants can lunge forward unexpectedly to close distance. Always bring a torch or light source into the Underground Chambers, as poor visibility can lead to ambushes from Drowned Sailors standing motionless in dark alcoves. A shield is highly recommended for blocking their heavy strikes, and players should learn to parry or dodge-roll through their attack chains rather than trying to trade blows. Fighting them one at a time is ideal, so use ranged attacks or thrown objects to pull individuals away from groups. Healing items are a must for these dungeon runs, and players should consider bringing cooked Meat, bandages, or potions to sustain themselves through multiple encounters on a single expedition.
